Stephanie E. Van Wig, MA, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Counseling Specialties
Stephanie has experience in the following specialties: Sexual, physical, verbal, emotional or ritual abuse (often resulting in Dissociative Disorders, Mood Disorders, and Eating Disorders), trauma, domestic violence, troubled families/relationship issues, grief and loss, loss of identity issues, young adult transitional issues, sexual identity (gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender questions concerning sexual identity)
Counseling Style Stephanie has a strong background in trauma therapy and believes that all people suffer from a form of trauma at some point in their lives. This trauma could be the shocking experience of parents divorcing as a child, loss of physical health, death of a loved one, domestic violence, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, satanic ritual abuse, etc. Stephanie's passion is to seek freedom for those who feel trapped in their personal trauma. Many times this involves the discovery of a "true self" that has been hiding behind a mask for a long time. Stephanie understands that coming to therapy for the first time to face these issues can be a challenging thing; therefore, she combines her therapy with a relaxed, enjoyable attitude. Stephanie offers counseling from a Christian perspective and is inspired by Luke 4:18-19 that shows God can heal any broken heart. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me (Jesus),
because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
